Since its release at the beginning of this year, TERA has been definitely a hit in Korean game industry. After the New Year holidays, it still keeps high popularity and tends to level off.
Based on Unreal Engine 3, TERA presents high-quality graphics, rich character appearances and innovative non-targeting battle system, which enables players to enjoy the fun of fighting to the full. At present, TERA is competing fiercely with Aion, which has ranked first for 108 weeks in the net cafes in South Korea.
Basically, this fantasy blockbuster offers similar classes in mainstream MMORPGs. What's interesting is that though TERA gold has almost the same classes as other MMOs, its characteristic classes are quite different. In contrast with Aion, its popular classes are just the opposite.
According to TERA's official statistics, slayers, sorcerers and archers are currently chosen frequently, but most players give up soon after creating slayers. Thus, ranged classes including sorcerers and archers are more popular. In addition, lancers, priests and elementalists are also very popular in comparison with those in other MMOs, though not as popular as the former three.
On the contrary, slayers, berserkers and warriors who enjoy high popularity in other MMOs fall into the doldrums in TERA. Especially when teaming up to fight, such melee classes are always kicked out.
